Frequently Asked Questions

At Everstrong Physiotherapy, we believe in clear communication. Here are some of the most common questions we receive. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team!

Do I need a referral to see a Physiotherapist at Everstrong Physiotherapy?

No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to see a private physiotherapist in Australia. You can book an appointment directly with us. However, if you are claiming through WorkCover, TAC, or a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan (formerly Enhanced Primary Care or EPC), you will require a valid referral from your GP.

What should I bring to my first physiotherapy appointment?

For your initial consultation, please bring:

  • Any relevant medical reports, imaging (X-rays, CT scans, MRI reports), or referral letters.
  • A list of any current medications you are taking.
  • Comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement, as we may need to assess the affected area.
  • Your private health insurance card (if applicable) for on-the-spot claiming via HICAPS.
  • Your Medicare card and GP referral if attending under a Chronic Disease Management Plan.

How long do appointments usually last?

  • Initial Consultations: generally last around 45-60 minutes. This allows ample time for a thorough assessment, diagnosis, initial treatment, and discussion of your treatment plan.
  • Follow-up Consultations: Usually range from 30-45 minutes, focusing on progressing your treatment plan and addressing your ongoing needs.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit will involve:

  • Comprehensive Assessment: Your physiotherapist will ask detailed questions about your medical history, your symptoms, and how your condition affects your daily life.
  • Physical Examination: This will involve specific movements, tests, and palpation to identify the source of your problem.
  • Diagnosis & Explanation: We will explain your condition in clear, understandable terms.
  • Initial Treatment: This may include hands-on therapy, pain relief techniques, and exercise prescription. Your Physiotherapist will provide education on how to manage your condition.
  • Personalised Treatment Plan: We’ll discuss your goals and develop a tailored treatment plan, outlining the recommended frequency and type of sessions.

Do you offer Clinical Pilates or exercise classes?

Yes, we offer both! Our Clinical Pilates sessions are designed and supervised by our physiotherapists, tailored to your individual needs and goals, and can be delivered one-on-one or in small groups. We also run various physio-led clinical exercise classes, including general strength and conditioning, joint-specific rehabilitation, and our popular “Age Well Strength & Conditioning” classes for individuals over 50.

What is the "Age Well Strength & Conditioning" program?

This specialised program is designed for adults over 50. It focuses on improving strength, endurance, and balance through moderate-intensity exercises, helping to optimise physical function, reduce the risk of falls, and enhance overall quality of life as you age. It also covers functional rehabilitation after hospital discharge.

Do you work with other specialists, like Orthopaedic Surgeons?

Absolutely! We believe in a collaborative approach to ensure the best outcomes for our patients. We frequently communicate and co-consult with local GPs and orthopaedic surgeons, especially for pre and post-operative care, to ensure your rehabilitation aligns perfectly with your medical management.
