Joint Group
(Hip, Knee, Shoulder Rehabilitation)

Our orthopaedic Joint Group is directed towards individuals recovering from joint surgery or managing long-term joint conditions such as osteoarthritis, hip or knee replacements, and other musculoskeletal conditions to promote joint health.

Focuses include:

  • Restoring and maintaining range of motion and joint mobility
  • Strengthening and functional movement patterns for stability and function
  • Education and pain management strategies
  • Support and motivation from physiotherapists and fellow participants

Stronger Bones
(Bone Health Osteoporosis/Osteopenia)

Our physiotherapist-run bone health focused class is designed for individuals with low bone density (those with or heading toward osteopenia or osteoporosis). This evidence-based progressive weight and impact loading program focuses on strength training and functional movement patterns aiming to elicit bone remodeling and preventing falls and subsequent fragility fractures.

DID YOU KNOW a 1-2% increase in bone mineral density (which can be achieved with high-intensity weight training and impact loading) translates to a 5-10% decrease in fracture risk.

Components of the program include:

  • Strengthening focused on functional movement patterns for daily life
  • Impact loading to stimulate bone remodeling
  • Postural and balance training
  • Education on falls prevention strategies to reduce risk of falls

Across the course of attendance, measures including strength testing, falls and quality of life scores and functional testing will be monitored to track your progress.
